2. Brickell City Center

Brickell City Center is a such great commercial complex in the area that it is impossible to arrive in the Brickell neighborhood without noticing its presence. The U$1 billion complex has been built in a sustainable way and currently houses two towers, a hotel tower and a high-end shopping mall.

Even if shopping is not your interest, downtown Brickell is worth a visit. You can have lunch or a coffee, visit the interactive science museum the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science or Pérez Art Museum, two of Miami´s newest museums, or simply admire their modern architecture, highlighted by the so called “Climate Ribbon”. This steel and glass airframe uses the ocean airflow to cool down the mall. In addition, the structure also stores rainwater for reuse and the most impressive thing is that it connects 3 blocks of the building.

But when it comes to shopping, most of the stores in downtown Brickell are luxury brands, like Hugo Boss, Valentino, Illesteva, Saks Fifth Avenue and much more. There also affordable brands, as Vitoria´s Secret, Sephora, Zara and the most visited, Apple.

The restaurant highlights in the commercial district comprises Tacology, a big and cozy Mexican restaurant on the fourth floor, and Casa Tua Cocina, cafeteria with a station where you can choose your favorite food.

3. Luxury Condominiums

When the Mandarin Oriental Miami opened in 2000, it was a precursor of the first luxury hotel of the neighborhood, Brickell Key, but now, Swire Hotels – first hotel in North America, EAST, adds the sophistication and chic ambience attracting a new generation of connected business travelers.

The addition of new apartments, bars and trendy restaurants, business opportunities and the climate, make Brickell particularly attractive to an international crowd, thus contributing to its growth.

Opened in November 2016, the mixed-use development Brickell City Center includes 2 condominium towers and office buildings. The Miami East Hotel meanwhile has 352 rooms and a 500,000-sf mall. Miami-based Swire Properties Inc. has grown nearby and is developing other condominiums and also condos in Brickell and Brickell key corridors.

4. Living close to work

Honestly, the Brickell Financial District looks more like New York than Miami itself; with similar ambitions, fast-paced style and easy walking, everything you need to live, work, shop and relax, can be found in the highly concentrated urban core of Brickell.

In addition, Miami´s free Metromover is a blessing for recent developments, making the area accessible for residents and workers. One of Metromover´s 21 stations is located in downtown Brickell, with connectivity and large shopping centers.

5. Brickell dismiss the need for a car

Brickell is pedestrian friendly; the area is shaded by the surrounding skyscrapers and the ubiquitous palm trees that transform the environment.

For tips outside the community there are 5 Metromover train services in the area, including the Financial District and the 10^th street Promenade. The Brickell station itself connects to the city´s most extensive subway system. Alternatively, the area is dotted with stops for the City Bike (the Miami bike sharing service), and a motorcycle sharing program that is in a pilot process.
